Mick's Töp 15 Albums of 2018

It's been a much quieter back half of the year here then we typically are accustomed to, but life has taken over the driver seat for us : I was busy getting hitched, Durf was busy welcoming a new addition to his family, and as for Tom I do know those New York football Giants have been having a less than stellar year so I can only assume he's been finding some other ways to grieve. Despite all of these momentous event we had going on, we've kept up on all of what 2018 had to offer as best we could.

So without further ado, check out my Top 15 Albums of 2018 after the break!

Summer Slaughter: From WTF to HOLY SHIT in a matter of a couple years

First of all, HEY THERE. If you don’t already know who I am, my name is “Angela”, and I enjoy the metal. I used to write for a few websites such as Reign In Blonde and MetalSucks. I also have been known to get blackout and make an ass of myself. Fuck you, don’t judge me. ANYWAY, Brutalitopia has graciously invited me to come and make a mockery of all things metal on their website, and I couldn’t be more excited to upset all of you. With that said….let’s get to it, bitches.

The Ocean - Pelagial

The Ocean have been around for a while now (their first EP Fogdiver was released in 2003), and with that time has come slow but steady musical growth.  They’ve improved over the course of each album, and their latest release Pelagial is certainly their most accomplished record.  Those who have followed them through the career up to now are sure to enjoy what they have to offer here.  That being said, this wasn’t the easiest album for me to enjoy, and I tried REAL hard to like this one.  I swayed between hating it and loving it for a while, and I eventually ended up feeling something in between.

Exclusive Interview: Robin Staps (The Ocean)

Last Wednesday, Nathan and I were fortunate enough to have made it down to Reggie's Rock Club to see The Ocean / Devin Townsend tour that's been going around.  Needless to say, it was a fantastic show.  After the show, we ran down The Ocean at their merch booth and from there went upstairs to have an interview with their founding member/guitarist, Robin Staps.  He was a great guy to talk to and gave us pretty good insight into The Ocean's past and what they're going to be up to past this current tour.  Be sure to catch them on tour now while they're still in America!  Enjoy the interview.

Mick's Top 10 Albums Of 2010

Yeah, thats about how metal it got for Jack and I this year.

Don't worry everybody.  The picture above is no indication of how metal the year was.  I just wanted to throw this picture up for the hell of it.  Quite to the contrary, this year saw the release of numerous albums that were receiving consideration from me to make this list.  And because of that, it was extremely difficult to finalize this list.  There were some I didn't get a chance to listen to as much as I would've liked but hey, that's just the nature of the game.  Overall, 2010 was a fine year for metal.  More specifically, it was a big showing for black metal and older well established bands still proving they got what it takes.  So enough chatter, here's my list.
