2013 has been one heck of a year for all of us...mainly because we relaunched Brutalitopia earlier in the spring and are now back in full force with a renewed sense of purpose. Thanks to everyone who's made that possible by supporting us in their respective ways.

And now time for everyone's favorite time of year...the end of it. Check out what albums I thought were awesome enough to recognize after the break!

Some album art eh? I can't say I'm totally surprised that this is the final piece that was chosen, considering it is Protest the Hero afterall. Regardless, these dudes more have new music for you all and new music from Protest The Hero is always bueno.

Review: Protest The Hero - Scurrilous

Take a minute to examine the album cover above. As your eye scans the painting, allow yourself to notice more and more detail in the cacophonous square. There is almost too much information to gather all at once. The painting visually emulates Scurrilous, the latest effort from Canada’s tech-metal champions, Protest the Hero.

So if I haven't made it clear to any of you yet how much new music there is to look forward to in 2011, this should make my point crystal clear.  Three bands of note have released new tracks that make me super excited to get their new albums that are all coming out fairly soon.  See who I'm talking about after the break.

New Album Artwork For Protest The Hero

And here it is.  Protest the Hero has just released their new album art for their upcoming March 22 release of Scurrilous.  This artwork seems to be more subtle than Fortress was, at least in terms of the color saturation, but it's still pretty sweet.  I already posted details about their upcoming tour earlier today so you can check that stuff out in the previous post.

Protest The Hero Announces New Album Details and Upcoming Tour!

Protest the Hero have just announced that they will release their 3rd studio album, entitled Scurrilous, on March 22.  And if that wasn't enough to make your day, they've also announced their North American headlining tour will begin on March 23 with support from Maylene, the Sons of Disaster, and Tesseract.  Dates can be found below after the break.

Protest The Hero Releases New Video Update

So Protest the Hero just released this video update via their facebook page.  People (including myself) usually complain about how many updates from bands usually feature more random studio stuff between the members of the band that those members would really only understand than any actual music samples.  However, we have found an exception.  Protest the Hero is evidence of how studio updates can be done tastefully.  Granted, there are way more random clips put together here than actual music but they are all worth watching and aren't annoying or stupid.  Plus the few music samples that are in there are awesome!  Be on the lookout for when these guys announce news about their new record that is sure to come out sometime in 2011.  We'll keep you all posted.
