Revocation - Great Is Our Sin

When it comes to advanced technicality, Revocation are certainly one of the most popular bands that comes to mind. There have been mostly highs and a few lows in the band's catalog, with one particular low being their self-titled release three years ago. With Deathless only a year later, hope was restored to the band's faithful following; a technical album with hooks and some super album art to boot. Great Is Our Sin was then given to us 2 years later and it is primed to be Revocation's magnum opus, but is it really?

2013 was kind of ridiculous. Between all the weird shit that took place to some truly stellar music releases, I think this year is definitely one for the books. I'll be weighing in with my non-metal picks sometime next week, because fuck Christmas. ON TO LE LIST...

Music Video Mania: September 12, 2013

I don't know if it's just me, but music videos seem to be very much a thing of the past. Not so much in the sense that they're rarely made anymore, but more so because they feel like they've lost a certain kind of flare that they once knew. That's not to say, however, that I don't enjoy watching music videos once they come out. They certainly are fun little treats to perhaps hold you over until a certain album is released or to just entertain you with something like awesome live footage. 2013 has had its fair share of music video releases, thus far. In an effort to start centralizing all of these videos into one place, take a look after the break to see what three selections I've made for this first Music Video Mania post.

Summer Slaughter: From WTF to HOLY SHIT in a matter of a couple years

First of all, HEY THERE. If you don’t already know who I am, my name is “Angela”, and I enjoy the metal. I used to write for a few websites such as Reign In Blonde and MetalSucks. I also have been known to get blackout and make an ass of myself. Fuck you, don’t judge me. ANYWAY, Brutalitopia has graciously invited me to come and make a mockery of all things metal on their website, and I couldn’t be more excited to upset all of you. With that said….let’s get to it, bitches.

Revocation Join The Party

I've been the equivalent of high on the Massholes of Revocation for awhile now. Their 2009 breakthrough Exisitence is Futile was genuinely one of the more enticing and original albums of that calendar year. The thing that makes theses tech-death-duders so exciting is that they seem to carving their own path through the muddled genre pool, simply churning out catchy thrashterpieces with teaspoons of prog, death and hardcore sprinkled throughout. And let it be known to anyone who hasn't figured it out yet... Dave Davidson (which is such a circa 1986 frontman name) is undoubtedly one of the most talented young guitarist/vocalists out there right now, totally in the mold of early-Megadeth Mustaine.

And now they're joining the fray in 2011 with what will most certainly be a highly anticipated third full length. The sky is the limit for these guys. Relapse picked them up way early in their careers for a reason... prepare to be stunned, kids.
