I'm a little late to the game, as usual, but for the sake of the posterity of our new Friday special and for your enjoyment, my first WDILF live video of the week is from a band that also broke sad news in 2010, choosing to indefinitely disband. Arguably one of the most influential post/doom metal acts of the last decade, ISIS and their tenacious grooves and ambient flow were the heir to Scott Kelly's and Neurosis' throne of drone.

While leadman Aaron Turner and the rest of the group have moved on to other promising projects, the demise of ISIS has left a gaping whole at the fore front of ambient metal. And while that void will certainly be filled by newcomers in the ever-expanding post metal realm, the grieving stage is certainly still in affect for me. One of my biggest regrets was that I never got to see them live, so videos like this, from Lund, Sweden, in 2005, are all I ever really had. The vid features "In Fiction", my favorite track of their full length from 2004 Panopticon, and arguably one of the best tracks to introduce a new listener to ISIS' sound. Enjoy.

  1. The day I heard Isis was no more, I spent eight hours listening to their albums and watching them live on youtube. I definitely agree with the regret of having never seen them live.
